IB MTS (General) Recruitment 2025: 7. How to Prepare for IB MTS (General) 2025: 5 Effective Tips

Success in the IB MTS exam requires a focused strategy, especially on the Tier-I objective test:

  1. Master General Awareness: With 40 marks, this is the highest weighted section. Focus on current affairs, static GK (History, Geography, Polity, etc.), and recent government schemes to maximize your score.

  2. Practice Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning: The Quant and Logical Ability sections each carry 20 marks. Allocate dedicated time daily to practice different types of problems, focusing on speed and accuracy. Time-bound mock tests are essential here.

  3. Strengthen English Basics for Both Tiers: The English Language section in Tier-I carries 20 marks. Since Tier-II is a Descriptive Test on English Language and Comprehension, focus on improving vocabulary, correct grammar, and paragraph writing skills (around 150 words).

  4. Manage Negative Marking: Tier-I has a negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. Only attempt questions you are confident about to prevent unnecessary score deductions.

  5. Focus on Tier-I for Merit: Remember that the final merit list is based solely on your performance in the Tier-I exam, provided you qualify in the Tier-II. Aim to score well above the minimum cut-offs (UR-30, OBC-28, SC/ST-25, EWS-30).
